Infrared Saunas
Infrared saunas omit light waves that create heat in the body, which cause you to sweat. They differ from regular saunas because the infrared light directly penetrates the skin into the tissues of your body. Traditional saunas just heat the air in the room. Infrared light is much more powerful for detoxifying and relaxing the body. Historically, heat treatments were used in ancient traditional medicines for many therapeutic reasons. Studies found in medical journals have shown many health benefits of saunas including:
- Improves heart function
- Normalizes blood pressure and cholesterol levels
- Decreases chronic pain
- Strengthens immune system and has anti-pathogenic effect on viruses and bacteria
- Treats digestive health
- Relieves chronic fatigue
- Limits diabetes symptoms
- Triggers the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest and relaxation and turns off the fight/flight stress response
- Detoxifies the body from chemicals, drugs, and infectious diseases like lymes and viruses. In light of the coronavirus pandemic, we recommend reading this blog post on our saunas and the immune system: HighTechHealth Immunity
What is a session like?
The sauna room is rented out to one person at a time. You will be given cotton towels and water and you undress to your comfort level. You relax on the bench for 15-40 minutes and you can play music or podcasts on the speaker. When you enter the sauna, the temperature is at 98 degrees and it gradually increases, which allows your body to acclimate well and slowly begin to sweat. The experience is different from a regular sauna, where some people feel a sense of suffocation, because it heats your body from the inside out. You can control the temperature and the chromotherapy lights. There is a wide variety of beautiful, therapeutic colors to choose from, which enhance your experience.
