kristia-talcottKristia Talcott’s journey towards being a clinician actually started as a young child. Growing up, her mother studied homeopathy, essential oils, flower essences, and other holistic modalities. Seeing her homeopathic pediatrician and getting reiki treatments were all formative parts of her childhood that she feels were stepping stones that led her to Chinese Medicine. Her first experience with acupuncture was on the other side of the treatment table, when she came to Jersey Shore Acupuncture as a patient of Megan’s. Kristia was a dance major in college and suffering from a foot injury. She was quite intimidated by needles, but quickly realized these gentle tools were far different. She was amazed at all the mind- body-spirit benefits, and she fell in love with the brilliance of this medicine. After healing her injury, Kristia felt her calling shift from dance to acupuncture and changed her major to Health Studies.

Kristia graduated Monmouth University magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies. She began Chinese Medical school in Honolulu, Hawaii and then transferred to Pacific College in New York City. In addition to her classroom studies, she treated for four years on campus at their on-site-clinic with very diverse supervisors. This allowed her to be very hands on and learn different areas and styles of acupuncture. Her schooling also included formidable Chinese herbology training, and she is nationally board certified in herbs.

After completing her Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine, she went on to complete her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Kristia is nationally certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine.

In addition to all the intense formal schooling, Kristia trained directly with Megan in Classical Chinese Medicine and with the esteemed Dr. Mikio Sankey in Esoteric Acupuncture. She listens intently to her patients because she wants to get to the root of conditions and to choose the best possible treatment for them from her arsenal. Her style is very hands-on, making sure her patients leave the session feeling like she definitely hit the spot. Her passion for the medicine is palpable. Kristia knows acupuncture can change your life and wants you to have all the tools to keep it that way, so she includes lifestyle and herbal suggestions. When Kristia is not in the office she loves spending time with family and friends, including her husband and their yellow lab!
